Green Canyon Adventure

"Today is the last warm day"...or so I heard.
So, if that is true, I won't have regrets of not
taking advantage of the sun!

This last weekend was Fall Break.
I left Wednesday of last week, and sometime between
then and now, A TON of leaves fell off!
Fall: you came and went too quickly!

But it made for a BEAUTIFUL walk.
It wasn't really a hike, because it was mostly flat.
And come to find out, I could have driven the entire thing,
but pretending to hike is so much funner...yes Danielle I said
FUNNER!!! Muahaha! ;)

When I took a break to get a drink,
I also just stood with my face toward the sun.
It's just one of those 'make you FEEL GOOD' things you can do.

As I was walking up the path, a rocky ridge came into view.
I had no idea it was up there.

I don't know if there is a trail up to it, but either way
I want to go up there next year.
Except I'll drive up to this point, and hike from there haha.

I'm really not excited for the temperatures to drop.
There's suppose to be a 20 degree difference between
today and yesterday....pleh.
Just as long as it doesn't snow, I'll be happy.
It needs to hold off at least until the pretty colors
turn all brown and nasty.  But thank goodness I got to
get out and enjoy them today!
I'm so thankful for this beautiful land, and the happiness
I can draw from it.  There's nothing quite like taking a hike
and getting some fresh air once in a while.

Logan & Mikaela's Wedding

My cousin Logan married Mikaela on Friday.
We couldn't go inside so of course we had to entertain
ourselves somehow :)
This is my favorite of that morning:

Win

Oh...and here's the beautiful couple :)

After they were married, we went to lunch
and then had a reception that night.
It was a lot of fun spending time with cousins,
and helping decorate this weekend.
Congrats you two!
I hope you find your apartment keys soon haha.

Examples of the Best

"The greatest victory has been to be able to live with myself, to accept my shortcomings....I'm a long way from the human being I'd like to be.  But I've decided I'm not so bad after all."  - Audrey Hepburn

Even though I am not who I want to be,
I know that I can get there eventually.
I've learned that I can deal with who I am
at this exact moment.
Is it who I want to be? No
But the things that I am doing and the
experiences I have, are all creating that person
who I some day hope to be.
Through the example of those
around me, I'll be able to become her.
I've got so many friends, family members and heroes
that I look up to.  Their example of faith, strength,
kindness, patience, and love astound me.
(I wish I had a picture of all)

They always say to surround yourself with people
that you want to become like, and I absolutely
have no doubt that the people in my life
are the BEST!
Thank goodness for Fall Break.
It is coming at a prime time, and I get to spend
it with those I love.
Hope you have a great weekend too!

Fall...it exists!

With the fear that this is the last good
weekend, (cross you fingers that it's not)
I wanted to go up the canyon and
see all the colors before they're gone.
Lucky for me, we had time! so...

Seth

Breanne

and I took a drive :)

We drove up, and I was going to show them
where the head of the Crimson Trail is at, but
they've shut the gates to the campgrounds, and
there were a ton of cars so we headed back to
second dam, since neither of them had been there.

We played a fun 3-card game...don't really
know the name, but it's similar to 21 except you
aim for 31 points haha.

Here are some of the shots we got up the canyon.
Bre took a bunch of them for me while I drove.

The Crimson Trail follows all along the top of that
rocky ridge.  If the weather is still
good in 2 weeks, I sure hope to go back up there.
...or maybe this week?? Guess we'll see.

The colors were beautiful as always.

Happy Fall!
Yes...it exists :)

Just Discovered

Pinterest Logo

So I just discovered Pinterest.
It is probably a bad thing, since I already
have problems being on the computer too long.
But finding things like this make me happy:

I've only just started, so if you follow me
or anything like that, I don't really understand
everything yet, but I will!
(and I automatically started following
everyone, so yeah no clue how that happened)

Why I don't run

A friend posted this on facebook,
and I just had to share.

Mmmhmmm....Amen!

"Mmmmhmm, Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!
Sing that song girl! Amen!"
For my Arts Symposium class, I got to go
to "An Evening of Gospel Music" at the Kent Concert Hall,
and these were the shouts I heard all night haha.
Four beautiful singers from USU and the
Calvary Baptist Inspirational Choir joined the
American Festival Chorus and sang many gospel songs.
It was almost 3 hours long, but I loved it! so it
wasn't that miserable (until the end. cause let's admit:
3 hours is super long!)
This song was my absolute favorite!

It's definitely different from the way I am
accustomed to singing, but I LOVED it!
Their voices are incredible!

Goodbye Summer

Hello Winter!
WHERE DID FALL GO!?
The leaves are only half changed,
and it definitely hasn't felt like Fall very long.

(Logan this morning)

I guess I can't be complaining too much.
At home it is snowing (1 inch last I heard),
and when I called Mom this morning,
she was driving in a blizzard so I'll call her back later.

(Uncle Les's backyard)

I'm not ready for this yet!
It was funny to come to class this morning
and hear the freshman complaining about how
cold it is.  All I thought was
"Oh you just wait.
When it is 30 below and you have to
trudge up the hill in the freezing wind,
you'll wish you'd never complained about today".
Though that was funny, there is nothing funny about
the above picture (insert tear).

Labor Day (2)

To begin Sunday, we knew that we wanted to go somewhere but we weren't sure where.  On facebook that morning, we noticed that Natalie had posted that she and Wesley were spending a family day at Elk River Falls.  Those falls weren't too far from where we were, so we thought we would head over and possibly run into them.  After getting ice cream (see other post) we drove around, and went looking for the falls.  Well, we were finally headed up the right way and a whole bunch of cars were coming out.  We were practically the only car headed up, and thought that was kinda weird.  At the end of all these passing cars, a car pulled up and had their window unrolled to tell us what was going on.  To our surprise, it was Wes and Natalie!  The surprise on their faces was priceless.  You could see the wheels in their heads turning like: "turn around cause up ahead...hey i know you...how do i know you?...it's Jim n Jill...but we are in northern ID so it isn't them...but it IS them!...HEY!!!" Haha, we turned around and got to visit with them for a while.  There had been an accident up at the falls where somebody had been hurt and they needed to get everyone out. (had a helicopter to land and everything).  So we headed back to the ice cream shop again so they could get some too.  It was so great to see them.

Natalie and me, trying to hide the fact that
our mouths had chocolate and ice cream in them.

Avalon and Meg

Seth and Wesley

Adorable Raven

That night we went to a fireworks show
in St. Maries.  It was incredible!
I would have to say better than Soda's 4th and that is pretty good.
There was barely any room, I've never seen so many blankets spread out.

If you look in the back, you can see a ton of them.

We finally got to meet Jake's little girl, Aurora.
She was so cute!

Then we got to eat these delicious fries,
that were nasty greasy but still oh so good! haha

Overall it was a great trip.
Really quick, but lots of fun and great to get away
and not be tied down to the rodeo.
I think Labor Day trips are going to have to become
an annual ordeal :)

Labor Day Weekend (1)

Better late than never right? :) This trip will be in 2 posts
but you can be glad that I forgot to get my
camera out early or it would prolly have 5 posts haha.
I also forgot to take it when we went on our trip to Elk River Falls.
But I'll steal some of those from Natalie's facebook
so that part of the trip can be documented too!

For most of the trip, this was my view:

Hehe.
We rode in the cab-over camper.
It was a lot of fun.
I got to watch a few movies in my pjs
with all the siblings.

It made the trip seem shorter, not having
to be stuck in the car all of the time.

If we needed something (and the phones
weren't working) we just opened this window
and then knocked on the truck window haha.

I didn't take any photos, but we went to
Uncle Gus's place first.
It was great to see his family again.
I really wish I would have taken at least a few!
But I think maybe Mom or Megan might have.

Sunday we went and got ice cream.
There were 2 boards with pins from where
everyone was from.  Here's Meg with the
Idaho map marking Wayan.

We are the white dot in Southeast Idaho! haha

The whole shop was huckleberry everything.
Here's Mom and the girls with huckleberry lotion.

Huckleberry Everything!
Ice cream, shakes, and pie. Yum!

Finding Hope

I didn't find this until now,
but I love it.

I am so blessed to live where I do,
to love the people around me,
and to not only believe, but also have a true assurance of the things I know.

Temple Excitement!

There's going to be a temple within an hour from my home!!!!!
Check out this link! :)

Last year, a fire destroyed this tabernacle in Provo, UT.
It was such a neat, historic building, and really hard to watch it burn.

How amazing is this photo?
Everything in the picture burned except
for the Savior.  Since this happened right before Christmas,
they were calling it a Christmas Miracle.

Now, a new temple will be built in its place.
Two temples in one place! But you know it will be super busy.
How awesome is it that there will be a temple
in Paris! It's a place I've always wanted to visit,
but I'm definitely going to wait until the temple
is built to go there!
We don't know exactly where the temple will be,
in Star Valley, but it will definitely be within an hour from
my home. :)
We are so excited, and blessed.

It's going to be fun to write about it to Seth.

"I Love to See the Temple," Children's Songbook of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 95"
1. I love to see the temple.
I'm going there someday
To feel the Holy Spirit,
To listen and to pray.
For the temple is a house of God,
A place of love and beauty.
I'll prepare myself while I am young;
This is my sacred duty.

2. I love to see the  temple.
I'll go inside someday.
I'll covenant with my Father;
I'll promise to obey
For the temple is a holy place
Where we are sealed together.
As a child of God, I've learned this truth:
A family is forever.
