Always Remembering...

September 11, 2001

I'll never forget the lives that were
lost that day.
I'll never forget the selfless
sacrifice that so many put forth
in order to help others.
I'll never forget the meaning of
this picture:

Even now it is still unbelievable to me
that something like this could have happened.
It's been 9 years.
On that day, I didn't understand
the impact of what had occurred.
I knew it was bad, but it took
me a few years to realize just how
bad it truly was.
I was washing dishes before
I caught the bus that morning.
Seth was in the living room, and
told us to come and look at the tv.
He said something along the lines
of "Wow, cool!". Wondering what would
excite a 3rd grade boy on the news, we went
in to the living room.
I can still hear Mom saying,
"No, that isn't cool. That's bad"
Not knowing exactly what to do,
us kids got on the bus.
The bus driver, Mike, had the radio
turned up, told us to be quiet,
and that we prolly weren't going to school today.

This video was put to a song
by Alan Jackson:

...the message is still just as powerful...

Then, there's a song by Darryl Worrley.
If you haven't heard it,
I think that it is really good too.
I'm proud to be an American.
I'm thankful that I'm living in
this beautiful, safe world, and
I'm thankful for those in the service
that are keeping it that way.

  1. "By our works shall men know us" I think we have found out since that day how true that saying is. I think too many have forgotten already what happened on that day and the sacrifices that so many have gave in order for us to be safe and free. Love you lots. Dad

  2. I know how you feel about not knowing exactly what was going on. I was only in fourth grade and I didn't even know exactly what the World Trade Towers were. I just remember knowing that there were a lot of people who were really scared.
